Round 4 of the Vic DH Series Took the Giant and Yarra Valley Cycles Team to Brutal Mt Buller... Luckily most of them made it through un scathed with some great results, Louis Armitage got his First VDHS win for the Season, Aidan was 3rd in Juniors whilst Alex, Liam and Matt held their own in Elite...The Boys Bikes performed awesome, with few Mechanicals, and with New Deemax (Tubeless Setup) Under them, no Flat Tyres, which is a mean feat in itself at Buller... All 5 of the Top Elite Riders from Mt Taylor are bikes sold at YVC, so this was awesome to see... Well done to the Kona Boys and Gals for the Weekend, just going to show how fast and bulletproof these bikes are on what was a track that took its toll for the weekend. A great start to the season, with a professionally run race, with some great results and huge numbers to kick off the season... The ALL New 2013 Kona Operator DH has once again hit the nail on the head. In staying with Kona's usual way of developing bikes, For 2013 this bike has taken in some subtle but super effective changes which have shaved grams, strengthened and added even more performance than ever before. For 2013 the Operator has beefed up the Frame, especially around the headtube, with a fatter top tube and oversized welds, the Shot Peened Alluminium frame is one of the lightest on the markets, and for 2013 the Super durable Anaodised Finish will last the duration of the bike. Other than just the spec, this bike has also seen changes to the rear swingarm, still using the stiffest, most durable and most effective Suspension Platform created for Gravity Fed Bikes, the 4 Bar walking beam suspension platform has been adjusted with lower pivot points, changes in Chain and seatstay lengths, and still comprising of the massive Sealed Bearings that are purposely spread as far apart as possible to keep the bike as stiff and free from side to side movement (thats prolongs the life of the bike).

A recent study by the Australian Productivity Commission and the Ratail Traders Association found that many retail stores in Australia were shutting their doors, a vast majority of these in the Bicycle and Photography Industry. There are many reasons why this has become the case, in particular the rise of Online International Sales fuelled by Our AUD vs the US Dollar, Ease of technology, shipping and Our Population (ie Buying Power), plus and a raft of other issues including the lack of Government Enforced Import protection measures, the high cost of Australian Postage services and Credit Card protection for Australian Businesses selling overseas (Australian Banks Fail to provide protection to Australian Retailers, therefore narrowing down the potential Australian Market Share to those only in Australia). With This in mind, we have recently seen many Australian Retailers in the bike Industry Shut their doors, this WILL happen more should these trends continue!!!
